Showing our hair and face some TLC is often all we need to feel confident and excited about ourselves again. Change up your beauty habits by starting a daily routine, doing something special, or just taking a little bit more care of your precious hair and face—whatever makes you feel good!
Our teen model, Hrilina (@hrilina), and our beauty experts, Brittani and Zari, shared some ideas with us that can help you appreciate and celebrate your hair and skin. You are beautiful!
HAIR CARE
Brittani’s Tips
- Find an easy hairstyle you love and can rock whenever you need a little mood or self-esteem boost.
- Have fun with your hair and try a new look for a party.
- Using a curling iron or cute accessories is a quick and easy way to create a special look.
- Do a hydrating hair mask once a week—especially if you use heat styling tools a lot (too much heat will damage your precious hair).
Hrilina’s Tips
- Trim your hair regularly to manage split ends.
- Select hair accessories that work with the length and texture of your hair; sometimes something as simple as a ponytail holder made with the right material and elasticity can relieve tension, headaches, and pain.
- Try to keep a hairbrush with you so you can fight tangles on the go.
- If possible, get your hair deep washed and deep conditioned at a salon every now and then; it feels great to be pampered, and it will help keep your hair healthy and shiny!
Brittani gave Hrilina a head-turning hairstyle that works great for super long hair. It’s basically a bunch of fancy ponytails. Split each ponytail into two sections and bring the next ponytail through the opening from underneath. The first ponytail that was split connects to the third ponytail. Then just repeat the process. Once you’re done, you can fan each section out to give the illusion of a braid. If you want, you can top off your “braid” with a cool hair accessory and curl the remaining hair (totally optional).
SKIN CARE
Zari’s Tips
- Make sure you have a routine! It doesn’t have to be complicated. Cleanse – Tone – Moisturize.
- Never ever forget to cleanse your face at night. You should cleanse your face both in the morning and at night, but it’s super important to remove any makeup residue, dirt, oil, and dead skin before you go to bed.
- It sometimes takes trial and error to find the right products for your skin type, which can be expensive.
Try these easy and simple DIY products:
- Cleanser: one part water + one part castile soap + one part nourishing oil (olive oil, grapeseed oil, or almond oil)
- Toner: one part water + one part witch hazel + 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil for an aromatic experience (optional)
Hrilina’s Tips
- Pay attention to your skin and learn your skin type; that way you can use products that complement your skin.
- If possible, invest in a few bottles of face wash. It helps to conveniently place a bottle so it’s available where you need it the most (in the shower, by the sink, in your backpack, etc.).
Zari’s special tip: Turn your bathroom into a zen beauty spa—even if it’s just a little corner—as a reminder to take care of yourself.
