Sam Karyn graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School last year and is now a freshman at the University of Alabama. She writes for a Black student-led magazine called Nineteen Fifty-Six and currently helps with two film projects on and off campus. While juggling her classes and her front desk job at the Student Academic Engagement and Advocacy office, Sam also serves as an ambassador for the College of Communication and Information Sciences. She was recently featured in the university’s honor roll magazine. In her free time, Sam loves to sing, dance, draw, and write stories and poetry.
