Café Reconcile is a nonprofit café that not only serves delicious food but also hosts a job training program for 16- to 24-year-olds. Program participants work at the café and learn valuable culinary and hospitality skills as well as financial and business skills to prepare them for any future job, not just restaurant jobs.
You don’t need any previous restaurant experience to be part of the Café Reconcile program, and they accept applications year-round. If you have any questions, email grow@cafereconcile.org or call 504-934-1640.
Even if you’re not interested in the job training program, you can support Café Reconcile by grabbing a meal at their Central City café—from blackened catfish to shrimp po-boys, fried chicken, red beans, and fried green tomato sandwiches, their menu has all the New Orleans classics. Café Reconcile is open for lunch Tuesday–Friday from 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
“I came to Café Reconcile to help advance my knowledge of culinary skills. After Reconcile, I want to continue my culinary track by going to culinary school to become an executive chef.”
Chassidy (19)
“I came to Café Reconcile to develop life and workforce development skills. Reconcile helps me stay passionate about my goal to become an accountant.”
Jalen (16)
“Any problems I may have disappear when I enter the doors of Reconcile. Since I’ve been here, they have taught me a sense of self-awareness and life skills, and they’ve helped me to communicate more effectively. Everyone should experience being an intern at Reconcile.”
