Girls on the Run inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. The vision: a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
GOTR’s program for middle school girls, Heart & Sole, is a 10-week afterschool program with a small team size of 8-15 participants. (This season’s Heart & Sole program sites are Bricolage Academy and Edward Hynes Charter School.) Girls learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections, and develop life skills that will help them as they move through adolescence and beyond. The “Girl Wheel”—a concept whose components are body, brain, heart, spirit, and social connection—helps girls identify changes they would like to make within themselves and ways they can contribute to positive change around them. The program culminates in a 5K run where participants celebrate their physical and emotional strength.
