Make my mind burn

Once a mystery
I’ve come to see and learn
I’m Black, I’m proud
I’ll scream it loud

Should always be allowed
Black and White
Oh, Blacks get attacked
Struggling to stay on track
Oh, Whites they’re all right
Feel higher than a kite
The misery
The hate
The fight
They said we’re all equal
Said how many times in how many sequels?
We were used
Abused, accused
And still fight
The fright
Living in a place
Built on hate of race
A big space
Judging people on color of their face
Without a doubt
We need to break out
Out of the lies
The hurt, the pain
That still remain
London Macklin is currently in the ninth grade at Eleanor McMain Secondary School and longs to write a book. Writing is something that she is very passionate about and that will always be a part of her. In the future, London wants to go to college to study biotechnology. Her reason for writing this poem is to bring to the forefront what’s happening right now around the entire world.
