Do you love getting pampered and spending quality time with your friends? Well, have a spa sleepover this summer! We asked our beauty experts, Brittani and Zari, to show a group of girls some super easy DIY spa ideas that will leave you feeling beautiful inside and out. And be prepared to have a great time!
We had a blast at the photo shoot with our wonderful models—Dom, Lucia, Claire, and Noelle—and our insanely talented photographer, Kelly (all of Lusher Charter School).
BRITTANI’S SPA TIPS
BRAIDS
You can have great conversations while braiding each other’s hair. Leave them in overnight for wavy hair the next day!
HAIR MASKS
It’s so fun to whip up your own hair masks with just a few ingredients from the kitchen!
Moisturizing: coconut oil + raw honey
- Mix the ingredients together in equal amounts
- You may need to slightly heat up the mixture in a sauce pan for it to properly combine
- Apply to wet hair
- Wrap your hair in a bun or use a shower cap and let the mask soak in
- Rinse with shampoo and conditioner (optional) after 30 minutes or more
Strengthening: eggs + coconut oil + raw honey
Same instructions as moisturizing mask; just add eggs (one per mask/person) after you have properly combined the coconut oil and honey.
For oily hair: lemon juice + coconut oil + sea salt
- Mix the ingredients together in roughly equal amounts (trust your judgement)
- Massage mask into scalp for a few minutes
- Rinse with shampoo
ZARI’S SPA TIPS
HYDRATING FACIAL MASK
Cucumber + raw honey + cacao powder
- Slice cucumber for your eyes (the slices reduce puffiness and soothe redness)
- Mix honey and cacao powder until you have a thick paste
- Apply mask to face, put cucumber slices on eyes, lie down, relax
- Gently remove face mask with warm washcloth after 30 minutes
WARNING: This face mask is quite tasty!
Thank you to Claire and her family for letting us do this shoot at their super cool home!
