Learning Me
by Chaela McGinnis (16),

“This graphite drawing was my very first self-portrait. The title is a testament to how this project gave me a chance to really learn about my features and study myself.”
Sisterhood
by Samantha Koryn (18),
St. Mary’s Dominican High School
“I created this oil pastel piece after watching Solange’s ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’ music video. It was inspirational for me, and my piece is a recreation of one of the scenes in the video. It took me over a month to create, but it was well worth it!”
Imperfections
by Alexa Rodriguez (16),

Small Strawberries
by Amber Parson (15),
New Orleans Center for Creative Arts
“I created this collaged oil drawing of strawberries to be interpreted in any way, by anybody—much like most of my subjective art style.”
Faces
by Alisia Houghtaling (17),
Isidore Newman School
“It’s a fun and playful bunch of colorful faces on a newspaper background. I came up with the idea in class while doodling funky faces. I decided that it would look cool if I painted them with gouache, and I think newspaper makes a cool background. I wanted to fill the entire background with newspaper and just have the faces showing. My favorite part of this entire process was cutting and shaping the newspaper to fill the background.”
